The lecturer: Eiko Todo
Chairperson of Certified NPO EDGE / Former Specially Appointed Professor at Seisa University
Eiko Todo is a person with dyslexia, with a reading speed comparable to that of a second grader. She is also the mother of a son with dyslexia who now teaches architecture in English at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Motivated by her son’s request to “change the situation in Japan,” she founded NPO EDGE (Japan Dyslexia Society) and has since worked with policymakers, government officials, and local communities to help establish laws such as the Act on Support for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, the Act for Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, and the Act on Promotion of Reading Accessibility.
Drawing on her own experiences, she is dedicated to training supporters, analyzing the social impact of NPO activities, and applying these insights to further advocacy and research.
Her lectures are highly regarded for being clear, engaging, and optimistic, offering scientific and experience-based insights into dyslexia and developmental disorders—conditions often invisible from the outside. She answers questions promptly and insightfully from multiple perspectives.
A passionate traveler, she gladly accepts speaking engagements in distant locations.
